Coach Marcelo Bielsa hopes to improve Athletic Bilbao’s poor start to the La Liga season at Malaga on Sunday.
Bielsa’s side have won only once in four matches and welcome Malaga to the Estadio San Mames following their home draw with Kiryat Shmona in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.
Bielsa was quietly confident about getting a positive result against Manuel Pellegrini’s side, but is wary of the threat posed by former Argentina striker Javier Saviola.
“We didn’t expect the results we have had at all. We thought we would have had better results,” he said.
“Tomorrow’s (Sunday’s) game is the perfect opportunity to atone for our poor results and get the points we should have got already.
“(Javier) Saviola is a great goal scorer. That’s what he has done at all the clubs where he has played. To score is what he is capable of doing, it’s what he knows to do well and what he normally does.”
