Bilbao star wants Premier League move

Athletic Bilbao defender Fernando Amorebieta wants a Premier League move in the summer, according to AS.

The highly rated defender, whose contract at San Mames is due to expire in June 2014, was having second thoughts regarding a new contract offer from the club, but ultimately decided to reject it with a view of leaving los Leones at the end of the season.

AS claims that the player is eager to continue his career in English Premier League, which is why he rejected a lucrative proposal from Russia in the January transfer window.

Fernando Amorebieta has spent his entire career at San Mames and was a key member of the side that reached Europa League and Copa del Rey finals last season.

Due to the contract dispute and several minor injuries, the Venezuela international has only made 11 La Liga appearances this season, but he is, nonetheless, still held in high regard by a number of Premier League clubs.

In total, Amorebieta has made 195 La Liga appearances for Athletic Bilbao, and scored 3 goals in the process.
