Blanc slams PSG display

Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc was scathing of his side’s performance against Lorient, calling it “unacceptable”.

PSG emerged 2-1 winners at Lorient on Saturday after coming from behind to maintain their unbeaten start to the Ligue 1 season.

Edinson Cavani and Jean-Christophe Bahebeck secured the points at Stade Yves Allainmat, cancelling out Raphael Guerreiro’s opener as PSG closed to within a point of Marseille, who are set to play on Sunday.

But the French champions were far from convincing against the 17th-placed Lorient, who dominated the first half, much to Blanc’s frustration.

“This is a victory gained over difficulty,” Blanc said afterwards.

“I really think tonight was the first period of incredible weakness.

“It can happen, of course, but when your name is Paris Saint-Germain it is very difficult to accept.

“Lorient caused us a lot of problems, but largely thanks to our technical errors that were in the first half, unbelievable.

“I think in that area, individually, is one of the lowest technically I’ve seen since I’ve been coach of PSG.”
