Ligue 1 defending champions Bordeaux’s coach Laurent Blanc says he wouldn’t be interested in taking over the France squad if Raymond Domenech was to leave sooner than expected.

Blanc, who won the French League title last season with Bordeaux, is considered one of the best French coaches along with Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger and Marseille’s Didier Deschamps.

Earlier this week, Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud said he would let Blanc take over France temporarily if Domenech was sacked following a string of disappointing performances from the national team.

“Honestly, I think that we have to stop with this,” Blanc said Thursday during a news conference.

“We can speak about the France team, about the staff, about the coach, that’s fine with me. The problem is that you are including me and I have nothing to do with this, I didn’t ask for anything.”

Blanc pointed out that the French football federation decided to stick with Domenech following last year’s European Championship -where the French were knocked out in the group stage without winning a match- with the objective to qualify for next year’s World Cup in South Africa.

“As it is still possible, let him (Domenech) in peace and don’t put me in the middle of it,” Blanc said. “And I think it’s impossible to coach both a club and a national team.”

Following its 1-1 draw at Belgrade, France stands second in Group 7, trailing leader Serbia by four points with two rounds to go, and is likely to have to qualify for the World Cup through playoffs.
