Bojan Krkic has defended Alexandre Pato in the wake of the attacker’s penalty miss in AC Milan’s Serie A defeat to Fiorentina at the weekend.

The Brazil international got the chance to make it 1-1 just after the half-hour mark when the referee awarded Milan a spot kick, but Pato blasted his effort over the bar.

Nevertheless, Bojan refuses to put the blame for the Rossoneri’s defeat on the former Internacional man.

“I don’t want to talk about that particular action as the one that changed the game,” Bojan told the Milan website.

“Pato is the penalty taker. You can only miss them if you have the courage to take them. He’s a good penalty taker and it was right that he took it.

“If we equalised in the first half, things could have been different but we wasted a few chances to turn the game around.”

Milan have dropped to 13th spot in Serie A following this week’s results.
