Competition: Europa League
Market: Bordeaux and Liverpool to draw
Odds: 12/5 @ Ladbrokes

French Ligue 1 side Girondins de Bordeaux host Premier League outfit Liverpool in the Europa League group stages on Thursday night, with the home side boasting much better form than that of the Reds ahead of the meeting. Liverpool would likely settle for less in this week’s encounter, but Bordeaux will fancy their chances of a result given their impressive start to the season.

Bordeaux have enjoyed a decent run of form of late, losing just once in their opening five league games. The French outfit are on a run of four consecutive games unbeaten, so they are sure to put up some resistance against their Merseyside opponents. Wins haven’t come about too often, with the majority of their results being draws, and they would certainly take a share of the spoils against Liverpool.

Liverpool have been suffering poor form ahead of their Europa League clash. Brendan Rodgers’ men are currently 10th in the Premier League after five games, and are coming off the back of consecutive defeats. Winless in their previous three league outings, Liverpool are going to struggle on the road against an in-form Bordeaux side. Their form in Europe over the last 12 months has been disappointing, and a slow beginning to the new campaign does little to boost confidence in the camp.

Bordeaux are the inferior side on paper, but are sure to put on a performance with home advantage. The French club have a couple of individuals to watch out for, with Wahbi Khazri their top scorer (3) this season. Henri Saivet (2) is also one to watch for Liverpool. Bordeaux won their last home game, so they have momentum ahead of a tricky clash.
