Bordeaux rule out Chamakh move

Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud has ruled out former striker Marouane Chamakh returning to the club.

The Morocco international was a crowd favourite in his time at the Stade Chaban Delmas, before leaving to join Arsenal on a free transfer two years ago.

Despite a bright start to time at the Gunners, Chamakh has struggled to establish himself in England and his future looks bleak after the club signed Lukas Podolski and with Olivier Giroud also widely tipped to move to the Gunners.

However, Triaud has denied speculation Bordeaux are looking to bring their former player back to Ligue 1, despite showing an interest in the past.

“It is not worth making things up. I tried to contact him six months ago when the transfer window was open,” Triaud told Sport 10.

“Since I crossed paths with him at the Parc des Princes, he was able to tell me he was very happy in London, loved Arsenal and was fine where he was.

“We’re talking about things which do not exist.”

Chamakh won the French league during his time with Bordeaux, and was named in the Team of the Season in his final year at the club.
