Spectators at Schalke 04′s training session watched on anxiously as Marcelo Bordon limped off the pitch while the rest of the squad were still playing.
“Marcelo was complaining about having a bit of a problem with his knee”, coach Fred Rutten said. The Brazilian defender, who has only just regained full fitness after a hand injury broken metacarpal bone, is at the moment a doubtful starter for Friday’s game at Wolfsburg. “We’re still waiting for a definitive diagnosis”, Rutten added, “we’ve got to wait now and see what the doctor and Marcelo say.”
Rafinha is meanwhile raring to go having returned from a trip home to see his recently-born daughter and clear up some formalities. “He’s totally on the ball, both physically and psychologically”, Rutten reported
