Jordi Alba believes both Barcelona and Valencia can count themselves unlucky not to have claimed all three points after their 1-1 draw.
Lionel Messi’s penalty cancelled out Ever Banega’s opener in an entertaining clash at Mestalla on Sunday.
And although Alba feels his side were fatigued following Wednesday’s Copa del Rey clash with Real Madrid, he was quick to praise the efforts of his former team-mates.
“It was a very even match and either side could have won because both teams created chances,” the defender told the club’s official website.
“We were a bit tired because the cup match was very demanding.
“It’s always been difficult for Barca to come to Mestalla. Valencia are very strong since (Ernesto) Valverde arrived at the club and I’m sure they will be high up in the table at the end of the season.”
Alba moved to Camp Nou from Valencia in a 14-million-euro deal over the summer, and while he has nothing but fond memories of time there, he got a mixed reception from the fans.
“I really enjoyed my time at Valencia, I can only say good things,” he added. “I noticed that a lot of fans still care for me, not all of them, but all opinions are respectable.”
