Two teams that are looking to put their poor qualifying campaigns behind them, on Tuesday Finland will travel to Arena Naţională to face off against Romania.

For Cosmin Contra Romania side, although the hosts on Tuesday were only able to secure a fourth-place finish in the European qualifying groups and will not be featuring in Russia this summer, The Tricolours have valiantly battled back and has seen them pick up a string of eye-catching results. Coming off the back of a 3-2 win against Copa America champions Chile, Romania have now won their last three on the bounce and have also only lost one in their last seven. It will also be their form at Arena Naţională that will fill the Yellows with confidence, aside from a 2-0 loss to former powerhouses Holland, Romania have not lost any of their other eight matches at home.

As for Finland, Markku Kanerva’s side almost endured an identical qualifying campaign to their hosts on Tuesday. While The Eagle-Owls could only secure a lackluster fifth-place finish in Group I and only gathered nine points out of a possible 30, while The Whites will also be absent from this summers finals, Kanerva’s side have also shown signs of a bounce back. Coming off the back of a 5-0 home win over Malta, Finland are now unbeaten in their last eight and have continued to show their class in the final third. In their last five matches, Finland have scored 13 times and have found the net in their last six away matches on the bounce.
