Sporting Lisbon have confirmed the signing of Khalid Boulahrouz on a free transfer.
The Netherlands international has penned a two-year deal with the Portuguese club, with an option for a further season following the expiry of his contract with Stuttgart.
And the 30-year-old has set his sights on helping the club win their first Portuguese Liga title in a decade.
“I am very ambitious, just like Sporting are, and I felt I could fit in very well here,” he told the club’s official website.
“I have come to help the team win titles. I will give my all to be successful with this team and I hope that I will give the fans many good moments.
“I like the aggressive style of play in Portugal, and the atmosphere in the country also seems to be very good.
“I have played in Portugal twice and I know that the teams play with their heart a lot, and I like that.”
Boulahrouz, who has 35 Netherlands caps to his name, joins Gelson Fernandes, Sunil Chhetri, Zakaria Labyad and Danijel Pranjic on the list of players Sporting have signed this transfer period.
