Atletico Mineiro came from a goal down to thrash Sport Recife 4-1 on Sunday to stay clear on top of the Brazilian Serie A.
Former world player of the year Ronaldinho and ex-Manchester City striker Jo were on target for Atletico as they remained two points clear of Vasco da Gama at the top of the table.
Gilberto latched on to Cicinho’s ball to put Sport Recife into a surprise lead on 26 minutes but the visitors were soon level when Danilinho struck for Atletico.
After providing for both Ronaldinho and Jo’s goals, Bernard turned scorer for Atletico’s fourth in the 73rd minute to cap off a dominant win.
Vasco defeated Santos 2-0 courtesy of goals from Douglas and Alecsandro to keep the pressure on the league leaders.
Elsewhere, Corinthians and Portuguesa played out a 1-1 draw in Sao Paulo.
Heverton scored the opener for Portuguesa on the half-hour but saw his goal cancelled out by Douglas in the 50th minute.
