Ronaldinho netted a hat-trick as Atletico Mineiro stayed six points behind Brazil Serie A leaders Fluminense on Saturday.

The Brazilian star led his team to a 6-0 thrashing of struggling Figueirense at Estadio Independencia.

Ronaldinho, a two-time FIFA World Player of the Year, scored either side of a Rever strike as Atletico went 3-0 up after 32 minutes.

He curled in a stunning 12th-minute opener after receiving a short corner before Rever doubled their advantage.

Ronaldinho side-footed a low free-kick under the wall for his second just after the half-hour mark and things went from bad to worse for Figueirense, who had Jackson sent off soon after.

The former Barcelona and AC Milan star completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot before goals from Bernard and Carlos Cesar saw out the comprehensive win.

Fluminense remain six points clear at the top after a 73rd-minute goal from Fred gave them a 1-0 win at home to Clarence Seedorf’s Botafogo.

Third-placed Gremio came from behind to record a 2-1 win at home to Cruzeiro as Marcelo Moreno Martins and Marquinhos struck after Anselmo Ramon’s 27th-minute opener.

Vasco da Gama needed an 87th-minute effort from Juninho to edge Atletico Goianiense 1-0 away from home.

Gustavo and Ricardo Bueno were sent off for the hosts at Estadio Serra Dourada.

A brace from Luis Fabiano helped Sao Paulo to a 3-0 win at home to Palmeiras, while an 85th-minute own goal from Ralf handed Nautico a 2-1 victory over Corinthians.

Santos and Internacional played out a 1-1 draw after Cassiano cancelled out Bernardo’s opener.
