Botafogo and Internacional both moved up the table in Brazil’s Serie A after important wins on Saturday.
Cidinho scored a double for Botafogo as they moved up to sixth with a 3-0 win over Bahia, while Internacional held on to defeat Cruzeiro 2-1 and surge up to fourth.
Cidinho made it 2-0 for Botafogo on the stroke of half-time, converting Antonio Carlos’ delivery, after opening the scoring on seven minutes.
Elkeson added the third two minutes after half-time to put the result beyond doubt.
Oscar and Leandro Damiao were on target in the first half for Internacional, who moved beyond Cruizero into fourth place despite Leo pulling a goal back in the 65th minute for the visitors.
In the other match, Nautico beat bottom-placed Atletico GO 1-0 courtesy of Araujo’s strike in the 23rd minute.
Atletico remain rooted to the foot of the table without a win after eight games.
