Brighton and Hove Albion are set to make a January move for Newcastle United forward Aleksandar Mitrovic, according to the Mirror.

Seagulls boss Chris Hughton is desperate to add more firepower to his squad after they managed just five goals in their opening seven Premier League fixtures.

The twenty-three year old has been frozen out by Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez since landing an elbow on West Ham United’s Manuel Lanzini back in August – an incident that saw him hit with a three game suspension.

Mitrovic moved to St James’s Park in from Anderlecht in the summer of 2015 and has since racked up sixty-seven appearances in all competitions, scoring seventeen goals.

Internationally he has been capped thirty-two times for Serbia, scoring ten goals and the last of those outings came in Monday evening’s 1-0 win over Georgia which cemented their position at the top of their World Cup qualification group.
