Romanian side Steaua Bucharest are through to the Champions League group phase, at the expense of Turkish giants Galatasaray.

After the 2-2 draw in the first leg, anything was still possible for the second match played in Romania’s capital city, Bucharest, on Wednesday.

Galatasaray needed an away goal to make a difference but it was Nicolita to put the home side ahead instead, in the 58th minute.

While Steaua have been struggling to get to the top in recent years, they were one of Europe’s better teams in the 80’s with one UEFA Champions Cup victory in 1986 and a second place in 1989.
