Buriram United manager Attapon Buspakom is confident his squad will retain the Thai Premier League title.
Last season’s triple-champions saw their 30-match unbeaten streak come to a halt against Chonburi last month, and they remain third behind that club and leaders Muang Thong United.
“To lose like that and end our unbeaten streak hurt,” Buspakom told Goal.com.
“We need to turn around in the second leg.”
United recently unveiled six new signings, including Montenegro’s Marko Cetkovic and Uzbekistan international Anvar Rajabov.
“We need new players, but we also need our current players to be at their best,” Buspakom said of his latest acquisitions.
“We’re confident in defending our title, but it depends on how long the new players need to blend in.
“They can strengthen us up right away, especially in the midfield.”
Despite Muang Thong’s current eight-point lead, the third-year tactician believes the competition is wide open.
“All five big clubs have what it takes to be the champion,” he said.
“But we’re always aiming to defend our titles, and we’ll never give in.”
