Butland set for Derby switch

Championship promotion hopefuls Derby County are set to take Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland on loan, according to the Mail Online.

The one time England international has been limited to League Cup appearances alone with the Potters so far this season largely down to the continued form of first choice shot-stopper Asmir Begovic, and now looks set to once again secure a temporary move to a second tier side in an attempt to play more games.

Stoke paid Birmingham for an initial fee of £3.3m in January 2013, but returned to the Blues for the end of the 12/13 campaign while last season he had spells with Barnsley and Leeds United.

Lee Grant has played every minute for Steve McClaren’s side so far this season, though the 31 year old suffered an ankle injury in Saturday’s 3-0 win at Reading.

Derby currently sit second in the Championship, and are favourites to win promotion at 2/1.
