Cambiasso delighted with Cassano comeback

Esteban Cambiasso has praised Inter Milan team-mate Antonio Cassano after their 2-2 Europa League draw at home against Neftchi Baku.

The creative attacker returned to match action on Thursday after missing Inter’s previous three games, and Cambiasso was pleased with Cassano’s comeback.

“Antonio can do anything when he has the ball at his feet, he frightens opposition defences and he can make things happen whenever he gets the ball,” the Argentine told the official Inter website.

“We shouldn’t focus on absentees. It’s been a bit tough for us, but on Sunday we got back to winning ways and we need to maintain that.”

Cambiasso featured in defence against Neftchi rather than in his preferred holding midfield role, but he made it clear he is happy to play wherever Andrea Stramaccioni needs him.

“It’s up to the coach, one of my few strengths is that I put the team first, I was open to this option and that’s how it should be,” he said.

“I’ve never felt out of place in that position because I played there as a kid and on the odd occasion when we were short under (Jose) Mourinho or Leonardo.”

Inter resume action on Sunday when they take on Napoli.
