Vasco da Gama continued their perfect start to the Brazil Serie A season on Sunday, while Corinthians lost again.

Cristovao Borges’ Vasco side made it four wins from as many matches with a 2-1 victory at lowly Bahia, moving two points clear at the top.

Former Lyon midfielder Juninho gave the visitors an eighth-minute lead before Diego Souza doubled their advantage just after the half-hour.

They held firm until late in the contest, with Junior Pipoca striking a consolation goal for Bahia in the fifth minute of added time.

Goals from Marco Antonio and Andre Lima saw Gremio to a 2-0 victory at home to strugglers Corinthians.

The pair netted in the opening 30 minutes at Estadio Olimpico Monumental, leaving bottom-placed Corinthians with just one point from four matches.

Newly promoted Nautico secured their first victory of the campaign with a thrilling 3-2 win over Botafogo.

Araujo and Lucio gave Nautico a 2-0 lead heading into half-time, but the visitors pulled a goal back through Marcio Azevedo after the break.

Nautico were reduced to 10 men on 53 minutes when Marcio Rozario picked up his second yellow card, and Botafogo took advantage to level when Cesinha netted an own goal.

Azevedo was given his marching orders soon after and Nautico grabbed an 83rd-minute winner through Derley.

Paulo Miranda’s goal saw Sao Paulo to a 1-0 win against Santos, while Wellington Paulista’s penalty helped Cruzeiro edge Sport Recife 1-0.

Portuguesa overcame Atletico Goianiense 2-0 thanks to goals from Ricardo Jesus and Moises, Fluminense and Internacional drew 0-0 and Figueirense and Ponte Preta also played out a 0-0 draw.
