Ponte Preta moved to equal first on the Campeonato Paulista table after beating Sao Caetano 3-1 at Estadio Moises Lucarelli on Sunday.

Guta Ferreira’s men proved far too strong for the league’s bottom side with William opening the scoring after just two minutes.

Cleber Reis doubled Ponte Preta’s advantage on 55 minutes before Danielzinho dragged Sao Caetano back into it with just over 20 minutes remaining.

But the away side failed to take advantage of the momentum with Alemao making the points safe with two minutes to go to.

Ponte Preta join Sao Paulo on 23 points after the league leaders played out a 0-0 draw with Palmeiras.

In the day’s other games, Santos moved to third after overcoming Atletico Sorocaba 2-1, Sao Bernardo were too good for Linense in their 2-1 win while Mirassol and Guarani played out a 1-1 draw.
