Ponte Preta continued their unbeaten start to the Campeonato Paulista with a 2-0 home win over Penapolense on Saturday.

The Campinas club took the lead through William in the 61st minute before Diego Rosa put the result beyond doubt with 12 minutes to go.

The result lifted Ponte Preta two points clear on top of the table with four wins and one draw in five matches.

Meanwhile, Linense climbed to second place after beating Paulista 3-0 at home.

Two goals from Fausto in the space of three minutes followed by Lenilson’s 80th-minute strike secured the result for Linense, who are also unbeaten with three wins and two draws.

Elsewhere, Ituano grabbed their first win of the season after defeating lowly Mirassol 1-0.

Marcao scored the only goal of the match on 41 minutes as Ituano moved up to 12th position with five points from five matches.

Mirassol, on the other hand, remained in 19th place with just one point this campaign.
