Ponte Preta moved top of the Campeonato Paulista with a 3-1 away win over Guarani on Saturday.

Striker William put Ponte Preta ahead in the 29th minute before Guarani’s Jose Fumagalli cancelled out the lead on 43 minutes.

Second-half strikes within two minutes of each other, to Luis Ramirez (68th minute) and Bruno Silva (70th) wrapped up the points for Ponte Preta.

With Santos playing on Sunday against Bragantino, Ponte Preta’s hold on the lead may only last 24 hours.

Sao Paulo made it two wins from two games as they defeated Atletico Sorocaba 2-1 at home.

Creative midfielder Ganso opened the scoring in the 31st minute before Marcelo Canete extended the lead on 77 minutes.

Fabio Sanches scored for Sorocaba with six minutes to go but the Sao Paulo defence held firm to get the three points.

In other results, Oeste got their first point of the campaign with a 1-1 draw against Sae Caetano while Linense and Ituano played out a goalless draw.
