Cardiff City lead the race for Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue, according to the Ligue 1 club’s chairman.
The Premier League newcomers are believed to have had an offer accepted for the 25-year-old and Olivier Sadran stated that any new bids must better it.
Sadran hinted that here may be interest from other sides but made their position clear when it comes to considering other enquiries.
“The clubs interested in Etienne have to know we will not accept any offer inferior to the one from Cardiff,” he told L’Equipe.
Capoue, who is the subject of reported interest from a number of other Premier League outfits, has been at the Stadium Municipal since 2006, having joined their youth system in 2005.
He has made 163 appearances in all competitions, scoring 13 goals, and could become Malky Mackay’s second signing of the close-season.
Record signing Andreas Cornelius is the only other arrival, with the 20-year-old striker scoring in his side’s 4-3 friendly win over Forest Green Rovers on Wednesday.
