Portuguese daily newspaper A Bola is reporting that San Jose Earthquakes are showing interest in Benfica midfielder Carlos Martins.

The MLS side recently recruited one former Eagles player as they signed forward Yannick Djalo in March and they seem to plan to continue shopping in Portugal.

A Bola has learned that San Jose Earthquakes are set to make an assault on Benfica midfielder Carlos Martins.

Despite enjoying several successful years at Estadio da Luz, the 32-year-old is no longer in the first team plans of boss Jorge Jesus and he will probably be offloaded this summer.

Seeing as how Martins has a high salary and two years left on his current deal, it is expected that he will be available on a cut-price deal.

The experienced footballer was relegated to the reserve squad at the start of last season and he hasn’t made a single appearance for the senior squad during the 2013/2014 campaign.
