Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has suggested he could retire from playing at the end of the English Premier League season.
The 34-year-old joined Liverpool as a schoolboy and has made over 700 appearances for the club.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has offered Carragher only a bit-part role this season, with the Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger preferred in central defence.
Carragher has not held talks over a new deal with the club and has accepted that his contract is unlikely to be renewed in the off-season.
“There is a chance that I will retire at the end of the season,” he told the Daily Express.
“It is the last season of my contract and the club have not said anything to me yet.
“I am open-minded, but I would not play on if I was killing the team when I played. I would not be hanging on for money or anything.
“And I would not go anywhere else. It is Liverpool or nothing for me.”
