Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has insisted that his side can see off the challenge of Porto in the Champions League. The holders have it all to do after the Portuguese champions earned a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford in the first leg.
That result leaves the Red Devils needing to win in Porto if they are to progress to the semi-finals. Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, Carrick insisted his side believed they could do it and that the confidence garnered from lifting the trophy last season would help them through.
“When you are the European champions it gives you the confidence to believe that you are never out of it,†he explained. “We still think we can go to Porto and win. Now it’s up to us to go over there and prove it.â€Â
