Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa said Iker Casillas has responded well to being dropped for the 3-2 loss to Malaga.
Manager Jose Mourinho elected to field rookie keeper Antonio Adan for the trip to La Rosaleda in December, but the former Liverpool man said time on the bench is inevitable at some point – even for a star like Casillas.
“Casillas has had exemplary behaviour,” Arbeloa told reporters.
“He supports Adan in training more than ever, showing what a great professional he is. We’ve all been through some time on the bench. This has been given too much importance.
“In the dressing room, we are not talking about Iker being dropped, because each week we should speak about the next starting XI.”
Real resume Liga action after the winter break by hosting Real Sociedad on Sunday.
