(GSM) – Roma defender Marco Cassetti has signed a one-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until June 2011.

The 33-year-old right-back has committed himself to Roma for a further season and he capped five times for Italy, has played over 100 Serie A games for Roma since joining from US Lecce in 2006.

Cassetti scored twice in 29 league appearances last season as Claudio Ranieri’s side finished runners-up to Inter Milan in both Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

“I’m happy and I thank the club for the opportunity to continue my relationship with Rome,” the Italian player said.

“I’m sure we can continue the great results again next season and I hope to repay the confidence the club has shown towards me,” he added.
