(GSM) – Universidad Catolica are eliminated from the Copa Libertadores following a goalless draw with their compatriots Universidad de Chile.

Catolica needed a win at their domestic rivals and hope for Flamengo to drop points in their home match with Caracas FC.

But the only thing Catolica got from this match was a red card handed to Damian Diaz in the 89th minute.

Moreover, Flamengo beat Caracas 3-2 in the other group match so even a victory would not have saved Catolica.

As such, Universidad de Chile win Group 8 with 12 points and not a single defeat. Flamengo finish second, ahead of Universidad Catolica and Caracas.
