Cavani defends Suarez; Rose targeting first-team place

Brazil v Uruguay: Semi Final - FIFA Confederations Cup Brazil 2013

Paris Saint-Germain and Uruguay international striker Edinson Cavani has come to the defence of compatriot Luis Suarez while having a go at Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, The Mirror understands.

Suarez, 26, has made it perfectly clear that he wants to quit Liverpool in favour of pastures new, citing a desire to play UEFA Champions League football this season.

Despite interest from Arsenal, highlighted by a cheeky £40,000,001 million bid for the Uruguayan ace, Liverpool are unwilling to part ways with their unsettled striker.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers has made Suarez train on his own in recent weeks, adding that the 26-year-old will not be allowed to train with the club until his apologises to his team-mates.

“The Liverpool coach can talk about loyalty and disrespect, but maybe he needs to look up what it means,” said Cavani, who joined PSG from Napoli for a French record fee of €64 million earlier this summer.

“Luis had the chance last year to join a big club like Juventus, who went on to win the league in Italy.

“But, instead, he chose to stay and fight with Liverpool. Now, that’s what you call loyalty.

“I’ve known about his agreement with Liverpool and understood that he would be leaving, if they were not playing in the Champions League.”

Perhaps former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said it best: Suarez is — in every sense of the phrase — “laden with controversy.”

Rose targeting first-team place

Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose is delighted with the amount of first-team football he has received in pre-season and is determined to move ahead of Benoit Assou-Ekotto in Andre Villas-Boas’ pecking order at White Hart Lane, Sky Sports reports.

Rose, 23, spent last season on loan at the Stadium of Light, where he tallied one goal and one assist in 29 appearances in all competitions for Sunderland A.F.C.

Assou-Ekotto has yet to feature in pre-season and has been linked with a summer move away from White Hart Lane amid the club’s reported interest in Real Madrid left-back Fabio Coentrao.

Thus, Rose is expected to start in Spurs’ Premier League opener against top-flight newcomers Crystal Palace at the weekend.

The former England youth international is delighted with the opportunity and will provide the club with a viable attacking option in support of star man Gareth Bale for the time being. Let the Bale-to-Madrid rumours continue. Please, no.

“This is the most I’ve played in pre-season,” said Rose. “It’s nice to have a manager who gives you a chance and is not afraid to drop certain players.

“Obviously I know Spurs have been in the top four or five clubs for the last five seasons or so, so I know it’s hard for anyone to break through, but at the same time it is frustrating and it’s great that now the gaffer is not afraid to drop people if you’re not performing or training hard enough.

“I enjoyed every minute at Sunderland. It’s a club that I’d love to go and play for again because they’re the only team at this minute which has given me a chance to play week in week out.

“I enjoyed every minute of it and now I’ve experienced it, coming here and sitting on the bench is not something I’d be looking to do.

“I love this club, but if I don’t play regularly then I’m not going to be happy, just like everyone else wouldn’t be happy.

“I wouldn’t be going on loan again. If I wasn’t playing then a loan’s not an option for me now. I want to get settled somewhere, playing week in week out.”

What would Cavani know about loyalty?

What does that overpriced turd cavani know about loyalty? He left napoli to join psg only for money. He certainly didn’t join psg for their long successful history in ligue 1 or the champs.

    Loyalty for money

  4. Hey! You prik skunky ugly Cavani,,, teach yourself how to control that unbredle tounge of yours. Don’t you have respect for super steve’s army? How many relantless forwards found their notche from the creativity of steve n the company and yet when they forced their way out, they end up looking like those hopeless footballers who dreamt for great football carriers and later ended up for money carriers like you, horror without mask actor. Your crazy brother has curved his niche in the red of liverpool after coming from holland. Then after all that contraverses and how the team stood by him, you come here to remid us what we haven’t forgotten? Lets see, how far and better is your carrier in PSG going to be, then you will come to concur with me that, money can never buy love..shut up and fish.

  5. I realy feel sorry for liverpoolfc. With all the great supporters we have in european football, and the great remarkable moments in european football, such that, people like, Xabi Alonso de great, Luis Garcia de finisher Dietman harmman de excutioner and Super Steve de Don, can still keep tabs with them others like, Zidane, Shevchenko, Maldini in respecting and admiring the history and success of this Massive Club. I can’t fathom how LFC can be put to nasty and shamefull comments of people like cavani and de gang. We need to proof something that, with due respect, PSG and cavani, are still very far to shake the dignity of Liverpool.
