Napoli forward Edinson Cavani is aiming to reach the same level as Barcelona star Lionel Messi and Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Uruguayan has developed into one of the undisputed stars of Serie A in the past few seasons, and he is determined to make the next step in his development and get on par with the two La Liga stars.
“Messi and Ronaldo are two great champions. I am training hard every day to try and reach the same level as them,” Cavani was quoted as saying by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Cavani then went on to discuss the alleged interest of clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester City, Juventus and Real Madrid during the summer transfer window.
“It is always difficult to change clubs and move to another city. If a club really wanted to sign me, they should have made Napoli an offer they could not turn down. This simply did not happen,” he said.
“It does not affect me that Napoli value me at 60 million euros. These kinds of things are a matter between the club and my representatives.
“I am training and playing with the same intensity as if I were worth only 10 percent of that fee.”
Cavani has a contract with Napoli until the summer of 2017.
