Cech unlikely to join Arsenal this summer

The Independent understands that Chelsea have told Arsenal that they will not sell Petr Cech to them this summer.

The Gunners have been strongly linked with a move for the Czech Republic international, who has admitted that he is ready for a new challenge after losing his place in the Blues’ starting line-up to Thibaut Courtois.

Since arriving at Stamford Bridge in 2004, the former Rennes man has racked up almost five hundred appearances for the club in all competitions, and won a whole host of major honours including three league titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups, the Europa League and the Champions League.

His last outing was last month’s League Cup final victory over Tottenham Hotspur, though he has played just five times in the league so far this season, with Courtois making the starting spot his own since returning from his three-year loan spell with Atletico Madrid.
