Spanish La Liga high flyers Celta Vigo have emerged as candidates to sign French winger Mathieu Valbuena from Lyon, according to Le Parisien.
The 31-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements at Parc OL and les Gones hope to cash in on him in the coming days.
While Fenerbahce were also keen on his services, Celta Vigo are now in pole position to sign the experienced midfielder.
Despite adding Munir El Haddadi to their ranks, the Sky Blues are interested in signing Mathieu Valbuena and are currently trying to agree a deal with both his employers and the player himself.
Valbuena’s high yearly wage could prove to be an obstacle to any deal, and he will probably have to take a pay cut if he wants to join Celta Vigo this summer.
The 31-year-old has failed to impress since joining Lyon from Dynamo Moscow, scoring just once in 28 league appearances.
