Celtic keen on United’s Powell

Scottish giants Celtic are considering a summer bid for Manchester United midfielder Nick Powell, Mail on Sunday has suggested.

The Bhoys boss Neil Lennon has been impressed by the player’s performances this season and he is keen on luring him to Parkhead in the summer transfer window.

Lennon was in the stands at Wembley as Wigan faced Arsenal in the FA Cup final, which is enough to suggest he is ready to step up his interest in the midfielder.

Nick Powell is currently on loan at DW Stadium, and with Manchester United boss David Moyes likely to spend heavily at the end of the season, the youngster is unlikely to be given a real chance at Old Trafford.

This is exactly why Celtic hope they can lure him to Glasgow, and while they are pondering a permanent transfer, signing the player on loan is a more realistic possibility.

Nick Powell has been in stunning form this season, scoring no less than 12 goals in 40 competitive appearances for the Latics.
