Celtic Glasgow have been given permission by Welsh side Cardiff City to begin negotiations with Dutch defender Glenn Loovens.
Both Celtic and arch rivals Rangers showed interest in Loovens, who has been playing for Cardiff since 2005. Last season, he helped taking the side to the FA Cup final.
Loovens, 24 years old, played for Feyenoord, Excelsior and De Graafschap in his home country before joining Cardiff three years ago. So far, the player represented Cardiff in 99 occasions, scoring three goals.
