Cerny extends QPR stay

Radek Cerny has agreed to a one-year extension to his deal with QPR which will see him remain at Loftus Road until the end of next season.

The 38-year-old former Tottenham goalkeeper joined Rangers in 2008 and has made 87 appearances as the club’s second-choice stopper behind Paddy Kenny.

Despite being limited to a handful of starts last season, the Czech keeper is relishing the prospect of another season in the Premier League.

Cerny told reporters: “I’m pleased. At my age, if I’m offered a one-year deal, that’s perfect for me. It’s fantastic to still be involved with the Premier League.

“For goalkeepers, it’s a little bit different to outfield players – age doesn’t come into it as much.

“My experience is probably why I’m still here. I’ve got experience and I always give 100 per cent when I train. Hopefully that rubs off on the younger players.”

Meanwhile, Brazilian defender Bruno Perone has left the west London club after just a single season.

The 24-year-old, who joined from Brazilian outfit Tombense last summer, made just two appearances and has left the club upon the expiry of his one-year deal.
