Doncaster Rovers picked up their first points of the Championship season with a 2-0 win over Blackburn Rovers on Friday.
Goals in either half from debutant Theo Robinson and man-of-the-match James Husband ensured Paul Dickov’s side moved out of the relegation zone.
Doncaster took the lead after 37 minutes through Robinson, following a cross from David Cotterill.
The winger picked out Robinson – who arrived at the Keepmoat Stadium from Derby on Thursday – and the striker headed home from close range.
Robinson’s goal was enough to give Doncaster a half-time lead, but the visitors looked to hit back after the break.
Grant Hanley and Chris Taylor both had good opportunities, but it was the home side who got the second goal of the game.
Husband took the ball after a free-kick and his deep cross looped over Jake Kean to double his side’s advantage just before the hour mark.
Chris Brown then saw an effort deflected into Kean’s arms shortly after, while substitute Leon Best headed just wide for the vistors.
However, it stayed 2-0, ensuring relief for the home side and back-to-back defeats for Gary Bowyer’s men.
