Championship striker to reject once-in-a-lifetime opportunity

England international striker Jay Bothroyd will reject offers from big Italian clubs in order to help Cardiff clinch promotion to the Premier League.

The 28-year-old Bothroyd, who’s just earned his first England cap, has been the subject of interest from Serie A clubs Juventus, Inter and Milan following his impressive performances for Cardiff in the Championship.

The Italian giants hope to open talks with the striker in January since his contract runs out at the end of the season, but it seems they will have to look elsewhere in the search for potential reinforcements.

Bothroyd says he is not worried by the speculation and admits he is fully focused on his Cardiff career.

“I’m trying not to think about speculation and am focusing on doing my best for Cardiff. I’m hoping to be back for next weekend.”
