Orlando Pirates have confirmed midfielder Isaac Chansa has been sold to Chinese Super League side Henan Jianye.
Rumours had linked Chansa to Kaizer Chiefs, whose coach Stuart Baxter has a good relationship with the player, but Pirates and Henan Jianye agreed terms on his transfer on Wednesday.
A report on the club’s official website read: “Although the club would have liked to keep the Africa Cup of Nations winner at the team for the new season, the player had already expressed his intentions to move overseas for a fresh challenge.
“Hence the club ceded to the players request.
“On behalf of the Orlando Pirates family we would like to wish Isaac Chansa all the best at his new club.”
Zambia international Chansa, 28, made 41 appearances for the Pirates, scoring 12 goals.
