While Chelsea are expected to see past tonight’s opponents and book their place in the last-eight of the Champions League, the quarter-finals looks to be the furthest Jose Mourinho’s side will fare this season.
The Blues have been far from formidable in Europe, but they have made it through as table-toppers to get an easier passage. After drawing with opponents Galatasaray in the first leg, they now have a home tie against the Turkish outfit to book their place into the quarter-finals. However, Betfair are giving odds of 1/4 that the Londoners will not make it past that stage.
Clubs such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint Germain, Borussia Dortmund, and Olympiakos are likely to be the sides Mourinho’s men will come against in the last-eight, which gives the Blues little hope of going further in the competition.
They still have to beat a strong Galatasaray side tonight, who gave them problems in the first leg. Will Chelsea’s European dream be shattered in the next round?
