After scraping through somewhat unconvincingly in their midweek Capital One Cup third round game, Chelsea are hoping to dispatch of Aston Villa at home somewhat easier this afternoon.

The Blues are top of the Premier League, with 13 points from their first five games of the season. Jose Mourinho’s side recently drew 1-1 in the league to defending champions Manchester City, which is the only game they’ve dropped points in so far.

Aston Villa are in a lofty position by their standards this campaign too. The Midlands side surprised many by getting a 1-0 win at Anfield against Liverpool, but they most recently lost 3-0 at home to Arsenal, with several players pulling out of the squad at the last minute due to illness.

While they will have a stronger squad available for their clash against Chelsea, their club captain and rock at the back Ron Vlaar is injured, so they face a difficult task keeping Chelsea’s attack at bay. As a result, Bet 365 are giving odds of 2/9 for the Blues to see past Paul Lambert’s side, with Chelsea’s formidable home record to prove too much for Villa.
