Chelsea attempt to hijack Bernard deal

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea have put in a late bid to try and sign Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Bernard. The 25-year-old is supposedly expected to arrive on Merseyside in order to complete a medical with Everton ahead of a potential move, but it seems as if the Blues are intent on securing a last minute deal for him.

Bernard is arguably the most elusive man in all of football this summer, with a handful of clubs believing that they were in with a real chance of signing the Brazilian. Atletico Madrid and West Ham United showed substantial interest, whereas AC Milan were said to be convinced that he’d end up moving to the San Siro.

Both the Toffees and Chelsea appear to be in desperation move with such a small amount of time remaining until the summer transfer window closes this Thursday, ahead of the Premier League’s new season beginning this weekend.
