The Sun reported Michael Essien could make a dramatic Champions League return tomorrow. The Chelsea midfielder has been out since September after suffering a knee injury on duty with Ghana. But he played the final 25 minutes of Saturday’s 2-0 FA Cup win over Coventry to put himself in the frame for the Juventus tie.
Boss Guus Hiddink said: “Michael did a good job. “He’s fit but there is a difference to be game fit. I have time to think if we start with him.â€Â
Didier Drogba, who raced to Essien on the subs’ bench to celebrate the opener, said: “I’ve been out for a while. “I know what it feels like. I think he can make a big impact. We need people like him, physically and technically.â€Â
