Chelsea eyeing Maguire

Chelsea are being linked with a January bid for Sheffield United defender Harry Maguire, according to Metro.

The Blues see the youngster as a potential long-term replacement for captain John Terry and they plan to get their hands on him before other interested clubs have time to act.

Chelsea officials plan to open negotiations in the coming weeks, and they are likely to test Sheffield’s resolve with a £5 million bid.

Manchester United and Arsenal are also believed to be keen, which is exactly why the Blues hope to wrap up the deal as quickly as possible.

Maguire, 21, joined Sheffield United youth academy in 2006 and he broke into the first team set up during the 2010/2011 season.

The talented centre-back has made no less than 104 league appearances for the Blades, scoring 6 goals in the process, establishing his reputation as one of the most talented defenders in the country.
