Chelsea eyeing Stefan de Vrij

The Daily Mirror is reporting that Chelsea are considering a move for Lazio hotshot Stefan de Vrij.

New manager Antonio Conte is eager to rejuvenate his back line and he has been linked with moves for Ben Gibson and Michael Keane, but it would appear that the Dutch stopper is his number one target.

Despite missing a large chunk of last season through injury, De Vrij remains an indispensable member of the Lazio side and he has now scored his first goal for the Biancocelesti.

The 24-year-old already has 30 Netherlands caps and 170 top flight appearances to his name, so he definitely seems ready for the next step.

De Vrij came through Feyenoord’s famous youth academy and managed to nail down a regular starting berth shortly after he had been promoted to the senior set up, going on to make 135 Eredivisie appearances for the De Kuip outfit.
