Premier League holders Chelsea are keen on AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, his teammate Marco Amelia has revealed.
The 16-year-old was surprisingly given a chance to shine by coach Sinisa Mihajlovic this season, and he grabbed it with both hands.
Donnarumma is now widely regarded as Italy’s brightest goalkeeping talent since Gianluigi Buffon, and no wonder top European clubs are after his signature.
His teammate Marco Amelia went to confirm the reports, revealing that Chelsea were one of the suitors.
“Donnarumma? All the best clubs are very attentive to the hottest talent available, Chelsea as well,” Amelia told Milan Channel.
The talented goalkeeper was thrust into action as Sinisa Mihajovic was unhappy with Diego Lopez and he is already considered a first team regular at San Siro.
Donnarumma has so far made 16 Serie A appearances for the Rossoneri, keeping six clean sheets in the process and helping AC Milan revive their top 3 bid.
He has been receiving praise for his mature performances from media and Serie A stars alike, but the extra pressure does not seem to be getting to him at the moment.
