Chelsea keen on Llorente if Giroud swoop fails

Reigning Premier League champions Chelsea have been on a January-long magic carpet ride, searching between the clouds for a suitable target man to take some of the pressure of poor Alvaro Morata’s shoulders. They sampled Peter Crouch and Andy Carroll, but decided ultimately that Olivier Giroud was their man.

Sadly the French striker might not be available to the Blues as Arsenal are playing hard ball, and Giroud is reportedly involved in an elaborate deal to bring Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the Emirates. Luckily Anotnio Conte has a backup plan, and it comes in the form of Fernando Llorente, according to the Sun.

The Spaniard is spending a lot of time watching Harry Kane be better at football than him, and has scored just once in 13 Premier League appearances this season for Tottenham. He could indeed be itching for a move, perhaps to watch Alvaro Morata struggle to look like he’s better at football than him at Stamford Bridge.
