Chelsea line up Lampard replacement

Spanish newspaper AS understands that Chelsea are keeping close tabs on Real Betis playmaker Benat Etxebarria.

After Frank Lampard made it clear that he would leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, the Blues are eager to sign a long-term replacement for the England internatonal.

New Chelsea boss Rafael Benitez believes Real Betis midfielder Benat Etxebarria fits perfectly into the mould.

The Blues have already made an official offer for the Spain international, but their €10m bid was swiftly rejected.

Benat has a €20 million release clause inserted in his deal, but Chelsea will attempt to lower the asking price in the coming months.

Swansea are also believed to be interested in the 25-year-old, but they clearly cannot compete with Chelsea’s spending power.

Benat Etxebarria has been in scintillating form this season, scoring 4 goals and producing 5 assists in 16 La Liga appearances, while receiving no less than 10 yellow cards in the process.

Why does Benitez favours buying players from Spain? They’re becoming too many in chelsea.Don’t turn chelsea to spain national team in your bid to empower them.

bad choice,,,,,benat is too slow and his work rate doesn’t suite the EPL….chelsea will find that out soon enough after they buy him
