The Daily Mail have just revealed that Tottenham target, Crystal Palace wonderkid John Bostock, was subject to a late bid from Champions League runners-up Chelsea. The London club lodged a bid in a desperate attempt to prevent the youngster from joining their city rivals and bring him to Stamford Bridge.
However, Chelsea’s bid looks to have failed as Bostock looks set to join Tottenham. The deal which would take the youngster to White Hart Lane is reported to be worth as much as £5 million and the Daily Mail believes it will be completed by the end of the week.
The ability of Chelsea to lure youngsters to their club seems to be fading as most player seem to realize now that they would have a hard time to get an opportunity to shine in a star-studded squad. Tottenham, however offer the more attractive offer for players looking to break through to the top level of football.
With the likes of Huddlestone and O’Hara given chances to shine in recent times, and promptly making the most of them, many younger players prefer to go to Tottenham than see their careers wasted in the reserves at Chelsea despite being offered more money.
